Madeleine Marg Art
Statement
Madeleine Marg is an artist from Morayshire, Scotland. Graduating this year with a degree in Fine Art, her emerging practice focuses on the dissociation from reality within westernised society and its effect on community connection. It aims to echo the state of hostility and alienation within society, that technological advancements, consumerism, and post-industrial capitalism have produced.
Her sculptural practice engages in a range of mediums and processes: painting, airbrushing, casting, ceramics, video, projections, sound, and installation, often using abstraction to convey feelings of solitude and isolation. She uses photography and sketching from life to initially record and observe the human condition and our relationship with each other. She examines traditional settings of communication such as dinner tables, and public spaces which are depleting avenues of communication. She also uses food as an avenue to address this disconnection due to its symbolism of shared community and culture.
Marg's work is intended as a warning sign for our current human condition. It is activisim for a better future and to encourage change. By addressing such issues her work aims to open the viewer's eyes forcing them to ‘look’ and witness the real world around them and truly see.
